Straight from the Top
Choteau CrossFitters were very fortunate to have a visit from Todd Widman of CrossFit HQ on Wednesday. Todd attended the 6am and 6pm classes, as well as the high school girls' volleyball team practice.
Todd led the classes through the medicine ball clean skills session. Even though the clean is a highly nuanced movement, Todd's instructionhad the majority of the trainees performing proper form, with the full range of motion, injust a few minutes. Then, after a review of the burpee, Todd put everyone to work on an eight minute med ball clean / burpee couplet. Good times! Gotta love those burpees!
At the volleyball workout, Todd reviewed proper squat technique and then instructed a wall ball skill session and burpee refresher. After that, the girls formed teams of three and knocked out a wall ball / burpee / sprint triplet. The girls worked extremely hard during the ten minute effort.
A small number of local CrossFit athletes were privileged to also have one-on-one heavy lifting skills sessions and workouts with Todd.
On Wednesday evening, Todd spent some time explaining his involvement with CrossFit, and answered questions from the public. A sizable contingent of CrossFitters as well as "boot camp newbies", and a few folks curious about the program, were in attendance. Todd expressed his passion for CrossFit's methodologies and gave real world examples of how the program has changed his own life as well as the lives of his athletes. Questions asked and comments made included topics such as nutrition, motivation, soreness, injury, rehabilitation, and comparisons to other fitness programs. Todd's clarity and conviction gave clear insight to the reason he is one of the top trainers for CrossFit HQ...Choteau CrossFitters are lucky to have learned more about the program straight from the top!
Thanks Todd!
