The Reasons for Nazism

I've been called a lot of names.  Notably, "The Nazi" when it comes to executing proper technique.

Sometimes I get a weird look when I tell an athlete to maintain proper spinal position during movements, whether it be weighted or unweighted.  You probably didn't know this, but I can read your mind when you give me that look...you are saying..."to hell with technique...I just want to get this freakin' heavy thing over my head so I can end this workout!"

Well, I don't say it because I have nothing else to say...I say it for your health.  There's a reason for the proper spinal position and Kelly Starrett says it much better than I.  Read this post from his blog at San Francisco CrossFit.

If you are loaded, and you can't maintain proper spinal position to execute the movement...you are OVERLOADED.  Back off on the weight, or rest until you can execute properly.  And quit giving me the look.

But...it's still OK to hate me.
