REST

"Life is the best sparring partner, she will never stop punching."  -Unknown

Daily Pondering / Question of the Day:
  • Oftentimes, I sense that some athletes are nervous before a WOD.  It's understandable.  As we set up our bar, jockey for a spot to jump rope, or take a quick sip of water, our brain is running on overdrive with thoughts of the pain and suffering that we are voluntarily preparing to endure.  I've heard Coach Glassman ponder how fun it would be to strap a heart rate monitor to a group of athletes, then, after determining their resting heart rate, announce that "Fran" will be the WOD.  Just the thought of full-body exertion that lasts only a few minutes but results in seared-lungs and "CrossFit cough" for days will make even the fittest of athletes so nervous their heart rates will skyrocket and their bowels want to void themselves in preparation for the task at hand.   Although I can't recall to whom this should be attributed, the quote (as far as I can remember) "if your workout doesn't make you nervous, it probably isn't doing you much good" is certainly applicable.  So, don't be skeered!  Just show up to the workout, get your head straight, get the work done and go home knowing you've accomplished something great.
