- Movie Night is tonight! We will watch the second half of "Food, Inc." and discuss how we can help bring about positive change in the food industry, and how we can help ourselves be healthier. Bring a healthy dish to share (meats, vegetables, some fruit, little starch, no gluten or sugar). Bring a friend too!
- ONDEG Cook Club meets on Sunday, February 27, noon. Location: Audrey's house again...address and directions at the gym. Talk to Audrey about paleo breakfast/brunch/lunch ideas.

- This is Sweetheart Week! (Don't be a weak sweetheart!)
- 100 Day Challenge: Day 79, 22 to go! Three weeks left...

Daily Pondering / Question of the Day:
- What's your thoughts on the criticisms of CrossFit and Greg Glassman? Are the criticisms valid? How would you run the organization differently?
- Post your replies to the comments below.
When something gains momentum, the risk of a crash and burn ending are higher. The fallout that happens when someone or something becomes successful seems to be the natural and inevitable outcome of jealousy and intimidation. like when an underground band goes mainstream and the original groupies trail off because of the cliche accusation of "selling out". The same thing's happened or is happening to CrossFit. The original rock hucking, heavy metal hitters working out of a storage unit probably see the widepread phenomenon as a threat to the methodology's exclusiveness; but that's not really CrossFit, an exclusive group. CrossFit is meant to be universally scalable for all people...and the craze has spread like wildefire because it works (for one) and it's built around a close community of participants (2). Not only that, but it's kind of fun-lound music, different workouts everyday, special jargon, and cool battle wounds! YEAA! As for everything CrossFit; I've become a bit leary of the Brand itself. I appreciate the methodology, and many of the amazing trainers involved, but I can't help but wonder if the trainers' certification seminars have been watered down by the huge demand. Originally, only the best of the best seemed to be certified...anymore? Hell, check out the websites; certs are sold out every weekend for months, and have been for years!!!! That's a whole lot of crossfit trainin' going on! Maybe I'm reluctant to follow the success, like the groupie to an underground band. I can admit...I liked it a little better before it became so "famous." It is still...though...the best thing out there insofar as fitness is concerned.

I absolutely think that they are valid. There is nothing more pig-headed and arrogant than posting pictures of half-naked woman. I am not saying the women in this pictures were taken advantage of or that they did not enjoy seeing their( I must admit) HOT bodies on the crossfit homepage. But what about the rest of the women in crossfit? What about those of us who do it for ourselves and to make us feel strong and healthy NOT HOT for men to ogle at. I think this alone would turn me off from affiliating with the corporation( if I owned a gym) I think its incredibly demeaning and inappropriate. If Greg Glassman wants a boys club that’s fine, but he better deal with the consequences of it. Because lets face it he continues down this path he will be turning off future clients because the majority of people interested in fitness programs are women. And I know if the first thing I saw on a webpage for a fitness program was a half naked or fully naked women in some cases, IT WOULD TURN ME AWAY FROM THAT Organization no matter how valid the fitness aspect is. Maybe they are intetionally doing it.. who knows? If i owned a company though I would not market it in the way he has been over the past couple months and i certainly would not want to turn away potential customers. And that’s my rant… all that said no matter what the Crossfit corporation does since I am already addicted they probably could not turn me off of it.

I can't speak to criticisms of Glassman, I haven't read enough on that. Criticisms of CrossFit (and anything in life) in general are usually made by people who are doing nothing/haven't tried it. If you are going to criticize, you need to offer something better, and be doing something better that shows better results. I know a lot of people who use "Shake Weights"...I'll stick with CrossFit!

Wow, people actually use Shake Weights? I've heard of guys using the Shake Weight so much that they went blind. Maybe they should have scaled more.
