News, Announcements, and Special Events:
  • Sage Burgener Olympic Lifting Seminar:  Saturday, October 1st, Bridger CrossFit in Bozeman.  Check it out.
Let me say something, in a very frank manner.  Your technique sucks.  And, you aren't having as much success as you could have in regards to your advances in strength and conditioning and changes to your body composition.

You don't study technique enough.  Yet, you want to get better at the lifts, and at life.  It simply won't happen.  You need outside study.  What that means is you need to spend time on your own, studying Olympic lifting techniques, powerlifting techniques, running/rowing/biking techniques, nutrition techniques, mindset techniques, etc., etc..  (Yes, there are techniques involved with mindset.)  Reviewing techniques during a training session and lifting some heavy stuff a couple times a week is not enough for you to get the exposure and experience you need to get better.  You need to hear it from people other than your coaches here at the garage.

How much study is enough?  There's never enough.  Seminars, journals, books, DVD's, Google, youtube.  All good places to learn what is presented by good, and bad, coaches and instructors.  That's what I do...I absorb as much material as I possibly can, understand why its good and/or bad, and distill it down to what will work for myself, the other coaches and the athletes.

Get online right now and sign up for the Sage Burgener Olympic lifting seminar.  What you will learn are the latest techniques for learning (and teaching) the snatch and clean & jerk...movements that are time-tested for developing all the characteristics of the strongest, and arguably the healthiest, people on the planet.

Your coaches will not give up on you when you are having a hard time understanding simple concepts like "the rack position" and "receiving the bar with the body" and "aggressive turn-over", but we will likely not have much sympathy when you don't have much success and advancements in strength and conditioning and body composition due to the fact that your technique sucks because you aren't willing to step out, set aside your ego, and hold onto some PVC and a barbell for eight hours.
